The Political Science program focuses on examining how power operates across various contexts and its wide-ranging effects. Students delve into key topics including the ethical dilemmas surrounding power dynamics, the evolution of fundamental political concepts like freedom, equity, society, and ethics, how historical, economic, and social factors shape political processes, the unique characteristics of the U.S. government structure, comparisons between different political systems worldwide, and the dynamics of international relations that influence conflict and cooperation. Political science classes at the undergraduate level range from large 325-person lectures to intimate 18-student seminars, all designed to develop critical reading skills and thoughtful written analysis.

To be considered for admission to UC Berkeley, international applicants must:
finish secondary school and
earn a certificate of completion, which allows admission to a university in their home country or country of graduation
The university requires further study, either completion of the two-year A-level program with a minimum of three academic exams, the IB diploma program, or another similar academic curriculum.
For (IBT) minimum score of 80 or better, Paper-based test (completed prior to Oct. 2017): Minimum score of 550 or better, Revised paper-delivered test (completed Oct. 2017 or later): Minimum score of 60 or better, (IELTS) Accepted with a 6.5 or better band score (academic modules)
