The graduate program in medical physics offers MS and PhD degrees through the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, in collaboration with the Radiology Department. This program aims to equip students with robust academic knowledge and hands-on training for careers in research, education, or clinical medical physics across various specialties, including medical imaging physics, radiation therapy physics, and nuclear medicine physics. Graduates emerge ready for professional roles in these fields or for further advanced training through postgraduate studies or residency programs.
The Medical Physics Accreditation Commission, CAMPEP, requires that entering students have either an undergraduate physics major or a strong physics minor with at least three upper-level advanced physics courses as required of physics majors.
Admission is based on:
Recommended undergraduate courses include: physics and mathematics, including calculus and statistics, biomedical and/or electrical engineering, chemistry, biology, and physiology.
