- Applicants are encouraged to select references who served as faculty or instructors of courses previously taken, or faculty who advised or worked directly with the student previously. For applicants without recent college experience, professional references are allowable.
- References will be asked to provide a letter of recommendation for the applicant.
- The following are highly recommended:
- One general biology course
- One health-related science course (e.g., nutrition, anatomy, microbiology or physiology)
- Two courses in behavioral sciences, including a course in sociology or social psychology, and a course in subjects such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science or economics
- Statistics or other quantitative coursework. Appliciants should have a B or higher in related coursework.

- Domestic applicants with degrees earned outside the United States are encouraged to submit a WES evaluation with their application. Applicants may be asked to provide a WES evaluation if the admissions team is unable to evaluate academic credentials based upon official transcripts submitted.
