Architects and urban designers create the physical spaces and systems people encounter daily. Hands-on interaction with these tangible elements—from building materials to public spaces to community stakeholders—forms the core of architectural and planning education. This practice-based learning model defines our program. Whether in the studio or out in neighborhoods, UB students and faculty continuously engage in "doing" and "creating" through practical research, construction projects, and innovative work. In Buffalo, design exploration transforms into real-world construction, and urban planning ideas evolve into implemented community solutions.
