The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLL) at the University at Buffalo educates students to explore fresh insights into Romance languages, their literary works, and cultural traditions, along with the societies and global communities they've continuously influenced. RLL students gain the skills to contribute to academic debates within the field and collaborate effectively with scholars from related disciplines.
Students in the doctoral program acquire competence in theoretical approaches and methodologies that inform their own research, and obtain familiarity with a diversity of critical approaches that allow them to engage meaningfully with the scholarship of colleagues in neighboring disciplines.
