As a special studies major, you have the freedom to design your educational path with guidance from advisors. During your sophomore or junior year, you'll collaborate with faculty specialists in your chosen fields to create a structured plan, outlining your courses and final learning goals. You can opt for either a bachelor of arts or science degree (the bachelor of arts usually requires more liberal arts and sciences credits), based on your aspirations; previous programs have covered areas like industrial design, journalism, Japanese language and culture, and French language and linguistics. While there are some restrictions (such as not replicating an existing major), this is undoubtedly the most adaptable approach to pursuing your specific interests.Explore opportunities across campus and further afield. As a special studies major, you might consider conducting research in a laboratory. You could seek an internship to gain practical experience and expand your professional connections.
