Exercise science examines the impact of physical activity on health, athletic performance, and disease prevention through scientific research. Nutrition science investigates how dietary components affect bodily functions and overall wellbeing. Our department integrates these fields to provide comprehensive knowledge about human physiology, incorporating biomechanical and nutritional perspectives.The ENS department provides two bachelor's degree options: a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science. These programs are distinctively housed within UB's School of Public Health and Health Professions, where undergraduates study in an interdisciplinary setting aimed at enhancing individual and community health outcomes.Exercise Science BS students can specialize in one of several tracks: Applied Exercise Physiology, Pre-Athletic Training, Pre-Health Professions, or Pre-Physical Therapy. The curriculum equips exercise science majors with robust health science knowledge, covering subjects like chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, and nutrition through challenging academic coursework.
