This program requires foundational coursework in calculus, statistics, molecular biology, organic chemistry, and database systems, along with bioinformatics. Students then specialize by selecting one concentration area: Biological sciences - Explore genetic and protein analysis through mathematical and computational methods. Biomedical informatics - Develop technical expertise for healthcare data analysis and outcome enhancement. Computer science and engineering - Utilize computational approaches to investigate cellular and subcellular research questions.
Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
