As a special studies major, you have the freedom to design your own academic path with guidance from advisors. During your second or third year, you'll collaborate with faculty specialists to create a tailored curriculum that aligns with your interests and educational goals. You can opt for either a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree (the BA typically includes more liberal arts requirements), based on your aspirations. Previous students have crafted unique programs in fields like industrial design, journalism, Japanese studies, and French linguistics. While there are some restrictions (such as not replicating existing majors), this path offers unparalleled flexibility to pursue your exact academic passions.Expand your horizons across campus and worldwide. Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
