Linguistics students develop expertise in various areas, such as critical analysis, theory development, experimental methodology, and textual data examination. The field intersects with numerous domains including computing, foreign language education, cultural studies, communication disorders, legal linguistics, and brain research. This interdisciplinary approach opens doors to diverse career paths in technology (AI, voice recognition systems), academia (English language teaching, educator preparation), scholarly work (university-level research), linguistic preservation (field studies), public service (national security, international relations), and commerce (brand promotion, consumer research).
Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
