Geography examines the spatial distribution of human and natural features and explores interactions between societies and their surroundings. The Department of Geography fosters a stimulating academic environment with five focused specializations designed to advance disciplinary knowledge and enhance career prospects. UB's Geography program provides adaptable study options, featuring core requirements complemented by diverse electives in fields such as earth systems, urban studies, global development, forest ecosystems, environmental risks, public health, marine environments, and global commerce. Regardless of specialization, students develop skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation while mastering cartographic techniques and modeling. The curriculum includes practical training with industry-standard software to prepare graduates for professional success.
Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
