Our program's goal is to train skilled counselors who can support individuals of all ages, including those with disabilities. The curriculum integrates essential elements from clinical mental health, clinical rehabilitation, and school counseling disciplines. By emphasizing leadership, advocacy, teamwork, data-driven decision-making, and proactive measures, our graduates gain the expertise to recognize and address obstacles that limit equitable access to education, social engagement, environmental resources, and career prospects. They will be committed to fostering personal growth, empowerment, and improved quality of life for all communities they serve.
The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialization (CLRC) maintains full accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs until October 31, 2024.
This track equips graduates to pursue licensure as Associate Counselors (LAC) and Professional Counselors (LPC) in Arizona and other jurisdictions. Additionally, it provides eligibility for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential. Upon passing the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Examination (CRCE), students can immediately obtain both CRC certification and LAC status. The specialization's focus on integrative care ethics, rehabilitation principles, and the interplay between physical/mental health—including trauma and social health determinants—prepares graduates to deliver varied services like psychotherapy, mental health counseling, vocational guidance, and forensic evaluations. Our alumni assist people with emotional, developmental, and cognitive challenges to reach their personal, professional, and independent living objectives in inclusive environments.
