Discover how to express yourself artistically through a program that hones your technical skills while refining your creative vision. The 2D focus within the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art requires students to concentrate on either Painting & Drawing or Printmaking. Learners enhance their expertise through courses that deepen their understanding of both contemporary and historical aspects of their chosen field. Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking instructors encourage cross-disciplinary methods. The program provides access to printmaking studios with both traditional and digital techniques, along with painting and drawing spaces equipped for oil, acrylic, and dry media. Electives allow students to investigate topics within and beyond their specialization, including collage, installation, and watercolor techniques.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Context: Graduates will exhibit thorough knowledge of art history, modern artistic practices, and theoretical frameworks - recognizing how these elements shape their own creative process.
Concept: Students will build a body of work showing their capacity to employ analytical thinking and research to create purposeful, original content.
Process: Participants will develop a portfolio showcasing mastery of their selected mediums and techniques, along with comprehension of fundamental artistic principles. They'll also demonstrate how conceptual ideas guide their material choices.
Integration: Students will reveal the development of a distinctive artistic perspective and visual signature in their creations.
