Political science explores systems of governance, public policies, and how individuals and groups engage in political activities. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science equips students with refined communication capabilities (including writing, debate, and public speaking) alongside critical thinking skills. The curriculum covers core political science elements: theoretical frameworks, governmental procedures, foundational principles, institutional structures, legal systems, policy development, global relations, diplomatic affairs, and conceptual approaches. Learners are urged to gain practical experience through extracurricular activities like internships with nonprofits or governmental bodies such as the Arizona Legislature, Arizona Superior Court, and political campaigns.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Graduates will develop the capacity to evaluate political data concerning contemporary U.S. societal issues.
Students will distinguish between theoretical, structural, historical, and scientific aspects of political systems.
Participants will master effective verbal and written communication techniques.
Individuals will cultivate awareness and respect for racial, cultural, and other societal diversities.
Scholars will exhibit dedication to engaged civic participation.
Participants will acquire fundamental knowledge of America's political framework and/or global governmental structures.
Students will comprehend the policy-making mechanisms and governing bodies that shape societal regulations and influence populations, along with the political environment enabling individuals and collectives to impact these processes.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA and entry requirements vary from country to country. International applicants whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English speaking country, regardless of citizenship, must prove English proficiency. English proficiency may be proven by one or more of the following:
