The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program offers students a choice between two concentrations: language or cultural studies. These options vary primarily in their language requirements. The Chinese Culture Intensive track emphasizes cultural understanding over language proficiency, delivering comprehensive knowledge of China's history, belief systems, traditions, and social structures. This program teaches students to recognize and explain both the unifying elements and rich diversity present throughout Chinese civilization. Given China's position as the world's second-largest economy, expertise in Chinese cultural studies opens doors to numerous career possibilities in the global arena.
