This educational program is available in Fairbanks and across locations served by the College of Rural and Community Development campuses, excluding the Aleutian-Pribilof Center. It's a rigorous, in-person secondary licensure course (31 credits) designed for postbaccalaureate students seeking teaching positions for grades 7-12. The curriculum specifically equips participants to teach in Alaska's diverse cultural environments. Multicultural education, with special emphasis on rural Alaskan contexts, is integrated throughout the program, particularly in EDSC F657. When resources permit, all secondary candidates in Fairbanks take part in a rural teaching practicum.
