The Master of Science program in wildlife biology and conservation equips students with specialized knowledge, hands-on training, and research experience focused on wild animal biology and their connections with humans and ecosystems. Situated at UAF, students benefit from exceptional access to diverse wildlife across expansive northern habitats—from coastal rainforests to boreal forests and Arctic tundra—along with cutting-edge research facilities. As the Arctic experiences warming rates 3-4 times higher than the global norm, our graduate researchers lead critical studies on climate change impacts on wildlife. Key research areas in our program encompass wildlife population trends, ecological relationships (plant-animal, predator-prey), dietary and physiological studies, spatial ecology, and the social aspects of wildlife management.
