This graduate certificate program enables students to explore the learning requirements of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Participants will gain knowledge about ASD traits, assessment approaches for ASD students, their social and communication patterns, specialized educational requirements, distinctive behavioral features, and effective teaching methods for learners with ASD.
With rising diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), there's growing demand for professionals equipped to handle ASD-specific challenges. UAH's online/hybrid ASD Graduate Certificate, a non-licensure program, helps teachers and agency staff develop these crucial competencies. Aligned with CEC Professional Content Standards, this program provides flexible graduate-level instruction through UAH's online platform, taught by faculty and ASD specialists.
The ASD Graduate Certificate benefits educators, therapists, psychologists, speech pathologists, behavior specialists, and family members seeking to improve their ability to support children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. No teaching certification is needed to enroll in this program.
The items listed below are required for admission to this program; only complete files are reviewed.
Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
GPA of 3.0, or at least 3.25 for the last 30 semester credits of graded course work.
In order to be considered for admission to degree programs with no additional English language training required, applicants must meet the following minimums on the TOEFL or IELTS.
TOEFL (iBT): all sub-scores greater than or equal to 18 OR
IELTS: all sub-scores greater than or equal to 6.0
