This program helps students develop expertise in a broad range of mathematical concepts, with a focus on Applied Mathematics, while connecting this knowledge to scientific or engineering disciplines. It also prepares students to conduct advanced research in Applied Mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum grade-point average of B (3.0) on the undergraduate record, and have a minimum total score of 300 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and a minimum score of 3.0 on the analytical writing portion. For the English, Nursing, and Public Affairs programs, applicants must have a minimum total score of 410 on the MAT.
All applicants should have satisfactorily completed a complete sequence in calculus, introductory courses in linear algebra, abstract algebra and real analysis (equivalent to the UAH courses MA 244, MA 442 and MA 452) and at least six semester hours in other upper-level mathematics courses.
Applicants must meet the following minimums on the TOEFL or IELTS. TOEFL (iBT): all sub-scores greater than or equal to 18 OR IELTS: all sub-scores greater than or equal to 6.0.
