Experts in vision science possess comprehensive understanding of ocular mechanisms and their integration with bodily systems. This academic track allows you to examine conditions including dry eye syndrome, nearsightedness, retinal deterioration, and other disorders, equipping you for careers in education, scientific investigation, policymaking, and beyond.

We believe the ideal starting point for optical studies involves three 10-week laboratory rotations to identify the most appropriate specialization and advisor. Prior to commencing research, you'll consult with your faculty advisor to align your objectives with suitable coursework and laboratory training. Our curriculum emphasizes ocular biology, neural systems, biomedical optics, and clinical vision studies. Course offerings feature Optical Imaging, Ocular Biology, Ocular Pathology Mechanisms, and Visual Neuroscience. Additional coursework encompasses Statistical Methods I and Scientific Ethics Fundamentals. The program culminates with a thesis defense based on your original research project.
