The Marriage, Couples, and Family (MCF) specialization typically takes eight to nine semesters, or roughly three years (including summer terms), to finish. The program combines academic instruction, hands-on training, and clinical internships. Students gain essential expertise to support diverse couples and families, collaborate professionally with peers and community resources, and adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards. UAB's MCF program holds accreditation from the Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy, enabling graduates to qualify for Alabama licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists.
