Graduates who successfully finish this program and meet all requirements specified in the UAB undergraduate catalog will earn a bachelor's degree and qualify for Alabama Class B teaching certification in elementary education (grades K-6). The professional training encompasses coursework in humanistic and behavioral studies, elementary education methods, curriculum design, teaching assessment, extensive pre-internship fieldwork in K-6 classrooms, and a culminating internship.
Notably, 6 of the past 9 Alabama Teachers of the Year graduated from UAB's School of Education.
Preparing educators to work with diverse student populations is central to our mission. Through the UAB School of Education, you'll gain teaching experience in urban, suburban, and rural school settings.
Participants can engage in research projects and showcase their work at the Office of Undergraduate Research Expo.
High-achieving juniors may apply for admission to the Early Childhood and Elementary Education Honors Program.
