The Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) is a 36-credit program, one of roughly 63 ALA-accredited programs across the United States and Canada, and Alabama's sole ALA-approved program. This degree trains professionals for diverse library environments including public schools (PK-12), universities, and specialized collections. Additionally, the MLIS prepares graduates for careers in archival work, information management, and technology-driven research fields, particularly those involving AI and digital information systems.

Qualification Requirements
Each international applicant must hold the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to be eligible for graduate admission. While individual departments may have more stringent requirements, bachelor degrees from Bologna Accord certified institutions are considered to meet this criterion.
