The Romance Languages MA program welcomes both native and non-native speakers. This program fosters innovative teaching methods designed to thoroughly prepare students for achieving their academic and career objectives. Students benefit from top-tier facilities, advanced technology, and a faculty of internationally experienced educators and researchers. The program offers two specialization tracks: French and Spanish, plus a combined Romance Languages MA option without a concentration.
The French specialization within the Romance Languages MA enhances language skills for non-native speakers while cultivating cultural understanding of France and Francophone communities worldwide. This track develops critical analysis of French and Francophone literature, culture, and linguistics. Students can choose between literature/culture or linguistics focus areas, with thesis and non-thesis options available. Qualified Accelerated Master's Program candidates can begin this track while completing their bachelor's degree.
The Spanish concentration builds language proficiency for non-native speakers and promotes cultural awareness of Spain and Spanish-speaking communities globally. This path strengthens analytical abilities in Spanish, Latin American, and Latinx language, culture, and linguistics studies. Like the French track, it offers literature/culture and linguistics specializations, with both thesis and non-thesis alternatives. Accelerated Master's Program students meeting requirements may start this concentration during their undergraduate studies.
