This program requires applicants to possess substantial musical training, including proficiency in playing an instrument or vocal performance.
Graduates can pursue careers as professional performers, certified music therapists, or explore various roles across the music field.
Prospective music composition majors need to present original works for evaluation by faculty members. Applicants must complete a dedicated School of Music application found at http://music.ua.edu/apply-audition/. Approved candidates must officially declare their major before completing their fourth full-time semester (or upon reaching 61 credit hours for transfer students). The declaration process involves submitting the Change of Major/Minor Application via the myBama Student portal.
