The Psychology Department at The University of Akron provides a Master of Arts program. Known as the Personnel track, this non-thesis alternative caters to students focusing on Industrial/Organizational psychology without doctoral aspirations. Enrolled students explore key I/O Psychology subjects such as testing and psychometric theory, employee selection and assessment techniques, research methodologies, workplace psychology, leadership and motivation, cognitive processes, training programs and organizational growth, large-scale organizational behavior, belief systems and values, workplace aging studies, and legal considerations in I/O fields.

Qualification Requirements

Fulfill admission requirements of the Graduate School and the following departmental requirements:

psychology major or the equivalent of a minimal undergraduate psychology minor including a general or introductory course, statistics course, and experimental psychology course,
GPA of 3.00 in psychology courses,
Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test,
three letters of recommendation.
Transcripts: Submit official transcripts by mail from all previous institutions. International students have additional transcript requirements.
A minimum score of 79 on the internet based TOEFL.
A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
A minimum of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree or international equivalent from an accredited institution.
Minimum 2.50 GPA, based on a 4-point scale (Note: the minimum GPA for assistantship eligibility is 2.75)
