To earn the MA degree, students must complete 30 credit hours of graduate coursework, which encompasses six mandatory seminars, two elective seminars, and six further graduate credits in political science. Degree completion involves writing an Essay of Distinction and passing comprehensive examinations at the program's conclusion.
The Political Science Department provides four graduate program choices: the M.A., the M.A. with a Security Studies specialization, the Master of Applied Politics (M.A.P.), and the combined MAP/Juris Doctor (J.D.). The M.A. program offers focus areas in American politics, International Relations/Comparative politics, and Criminal Justice.
