The Master of Applied Politics program is provided through a collaboration between the Department of Political Science and the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron. As one of the limited number of professional master's programs in the U.S. concentrating on hands-on political engagement, it caters to students aiming to shape policy outcomes. This encompasses strategies for winning elected positions in party competitions, affecting lawmaking processes, and bolstering political groups.

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree: A minimum of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree or international equivalent from an accredited institution. Grades: Minimum 2.50 GPA, based on a 4-point scale (Note: the minimum GPA for assistantship eligibility is 2.75).
GRE and GMAT scores (must have been taken within five years). Check with the academic department of your intended program of study to see if these exams are required.
Submit official transcripts electronically or by mail from all previous institutions. International students have additional transcript requirements
Letters of Recommendation are not required of all applicants. Please ask your academic department about letter-of-recommendation requirements for your academic program.
After submitting acceptable academic credentials and proof of English proficiency, applicants who are fully admitted may enroll in graduate coursework and may be eligible for University of Akron-funded assistantships, fellowships, or scholarships.
Prospective teaching assistants must also achieve a minimum score of 23 on the Speaking Section of the internet-based TOEFL, or a minimum score of 7 on the Speaking Section of the IELTS, or a passing score on the U-ADEPT.
A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), which is jointly
owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS, and Cambridge University Press and Assessment.
