To qualify for the graduate literature certificate, applicants must first gain admission to the University as graduate students. Prospective candidates should reach out to the English Department's Graduate Coordinator. The program requires completion of five courses (15 credits total), including two mandatory core classes: Chaucer and Shakespearean Drama. Additionally, four out of the five courses must be at the 600-level, with at least one focusing on American literature.

Qualification Requirements

A minimum of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree or international equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum 2.50 GPA, based on a 4-point scale (Note: the minimum GPA for assistantship eligibility is 2.75) , Transcripts: Submit official transcripts by mail from all previous institutions. The Department of English requires no supplemental materials in addition to submission of the graduate application and official transcripts for admission to the certificate program.
