This 18-credit certificate program is designed for high school educators who want to qualify to teach dual-enrollment speech and communication classes through the College Credit Plus initiative. Participants will complete a mix of required courses and electives, gaining skills to implement communication theories in their teaching practice. The program offers both online and in-person formats, accommodating the schedules of working high school teachers.
Earning this certificate fulfills the academic requirements needed to teach college-level speech and communication courses in secondary schools.
The 18-credit certificate program can also be applied toward completing a Master of Arts degree in our department.
A student interested in pursuing a graduate certificate program must possess at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Some certificate programs may require that a student already be enrolled in a specific graduate degree program.
Applicants holding a degree from outside the United States and with an academic standing of first or high second class, satisfactory evidence of competence in English (i.e., TOEFL score of 79 or above or IELTS score of 6.5 or above) is required.
