The healthcare sector's impressive expansion and evolution are creating more opportunities for legal professionals.
Simultaneously, preparing competent health law practitioners presents a fresh and distinctive challenge. Addressing intricate health law matters now demands advanced knowledge of how science, technology, and social sciences intersect—an area often overlooked in conventional health law curricula.
Acknowledging these evolving demands, UA's Health Law Certificate Program adopts a practical, hands-on methodology. It offers skills development and externships to fulfill the 1-2 years of experience typically required for employment. This training enables graduates to immediately contribute in various practice areas like regulatory compliance and risk management, while fostering ongoing consideration of how law interacts with scientific and technological advancements.
To earn the certificate, students must finish four specialized health law courses and participate in a semester-long externship.
Akron Law provides a rare opportunity to pursue dual certificates—combining Health Law with either Litigation or Intellectual Property. These fields share considerable common ground, and pairing these programs equips graduates with particularly valuable and sought-after professional capabilities.
