The Mechanical Engineering Technology program at UA educates students on the operation and upkeep of mechanical systems.

Mechanical engineering technicians are essential across all sectors, from steel production to consumer goods like tires, automobiles, and household appliances. They collaborate with engineers in the design, testing, production, and maintenance of mechanical parts and systems prevalent throughout industry.

Program features:

Core courses offer students a broad knowledge of mathematical and scientific fundamentals.
Students develop a solid understanding of engineering technology concepts.
Technical instruction utilizes graphical methods and integrates algebra, trigonometry, and geometry as key analytical instruments.
Mechanical Engineering Technology focuses on product design and the machinery used for their production. Mechanical technicians are in demand in every industry, from steel manufacturing to consumer goods such as tires, vehicles, and home appliances. They work alongside engineers in designing, testing, producing, and maintaining mechanical components and systems ubiquitous in industry. Graduates with an associate degree are well-prepared to enter various mechanical technology roles.

Industry demand for mechanical technicians is currently high and expected to remain strong. It is projected that thousands of new mechanical technicians will be needed annually. Mechanical technicians secure positions in numerous mechanical specialties, with specific career paths including:

Junior or Assistant Designer - Creates machine components and/or systems.
Engineering Aid - Supports mechanical engineers, an ideal starting point for recent graduates.
Laboratory Technician - Mainly handles product or process assessment and analysis. May conduct field testing (e.g., tires, vehicles). Involves material selection from design and processing perspectives.
Customer Service Technician - Installs and services equipment on location. Could also act as a sales consultant in suggesting machinery for specific uses.
Plant Engineer - Develops maintenance plans and implements tool and machine design for manufacturing processes.
