Immunohematologists perform blood typing and compatibility testing between donors and recipients, while evaluating specialized blood components for transfusion treatments. The field of blood banking (encompassing immunohematology and transfusion medicine) has grown more complex, as there's greater need for component-based therapies compared to whole blood transfusions. This graduate certificate program is available both on-campus and through distance learning. The on-campus option combines classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clinical training.
