The Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine provides education for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. With a broad range of curriculum duties, the department boasts faculty with extensive multidisciplinary knowledge. Dental students receive instruction on conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial areas, covering clinical presentation, radiographic interpretation, laboratory analysis, histopathological assessment, and treatment approaches. The curriculum also explores disease origins, progression patterns, systemic condition recognition, and how to evaluate patients for oral health implications through physical examinations.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited program leading to the D.D.S. or D.M.D., or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the Office of Admissions, and must qualify for admission to The University of Iowa Graduate College. To be considered for admission, applicants must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) or foreign equivalent as determined by the Office of Admissions and must submit the following documents: an application for graduate admission, the application fee, official transcripts from all institutions attended, three letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, and a curriculum vitae.
