Students pursuing the dual degree must declare their intent to complete both programs by the conclusion of their third or fourth law semester and satisfy the M.S. program's entry criteria. During their initial year, dual degree participants are restricted to taking courses exclusively within the School of Law. Under normal circumstances, with all prerequisites fulfilled, students can complete both degrees within four and a half years, including summer terms. Applicants must submit distinct applications for the J.D. and M.S. components of the dual degree. Acceptable LSAT scores for law school admission exempt students from GRE requirements. This program primarily serves those focused on intellectual property law within biotechnology. J.D./M.S. biotechnology candidates may apply up to 12 approved non-law credits toward their J.D. and 12 law credits toward their M.S. degree.
