The Master of Arts in Mass Communications program equips students for careers in the communications field or further academic pursuits leading to a PhD. By choosing specific courses, graduate students can specialize in areas like media (including journalism, publishing, and broadcasting), advertising, public relations, and similar disciplines, with sports communication as an additional option. The program accepts applications throughout the year, allowing flexible start dates. Students pursuing their Master of Arts can select between two tracks: a conventional thesis-focused research path or a practical non-thesis alternative. Both options require completion of 30 credit hours. The thesis track involves 24 course credits plus at least 6 thesis credits, with the thesis representing substantial original research that usually requires an entire summer or semester to finish.
