The Doctor of Philosophy in Nutritional Sciences equips students for academic roles, post-doctoral opportunities, and diverse industry careers. This doctoral program offers three specialization paths: 1) Community Nutrition, 2) Nutritional Biochemistry and Physiology, and 3) Clinical Nutrition. Candidates must complete at least 72 credit hours (incorporating 12 dissertation credits and a minimum of 12 credits in their chosen track) following a Bachelor of Science degree. Up to 30 credits may be transferred from a master's program. Financial support options include scholarships, fellowships, and research or teaching assistantships, though availability is limited. Faculty research focuses on nutrition's impact on various health conditions including obesity, eating disorders, diabetes, Alzheimer's, cancer, inflammation, gut microbiome, food insecurity, malnutrition, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, and dietetics.
