The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics equips students with a solid grounding in economic theory and quantitative methods while honing their written and verbal communication abilities. The curriculum offers sufficient flexibility for students to pursue minors in disciplines like business fundamentals or financial planning, with additional minor options available across the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources and other economics-related fields. The department also provides a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, merging essential agricultural economics coursework with business administration studies to prepare graduates for agribusiness careers. Furthermore, students can pursue a dual degree program with the Rawls College of Business, earning both a B.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a B.B.A. in General Business. The program also serves as excellent preparation for graduate studies in economics, law, business administration, and related disciplines.
A primary focus of the department is cultivating students' analytical thinking and decision-making abilities rooted in economic fundamentals. The curriculum builds competencies in economic analysis, quantitative methods, statistical techniques, and effective communication. Students also receive training in policy analysis, pricing strategies, and marketing principles. Graduates emerge prepared to lead agricultural enterprises, financial institutions, and property development ventures, as well as manage farms, ranches, and related organizations.
