This program fulfills the educational criteria established for obtaining a professional license or certification required for specific occupations in Utah. Students aiming for careers that mandate licensure or certification outside of Utah should consult the relevant BYU academic advising center and the licensing authority in their intended state of employment to obtain details and guidance about the necessary qualifications.
A minimum of 18 credit hours within the major must be completed through BYU's residency program.
For majors declared after December 16, 2019, any required course in a teaching major or minor with a grade below C will not count toward the degree. Additionally, teacher candidates must sustain an overall GPA of at least 2.7 after program admission to remain eligible for student teaching placements.
