The University Studies program is an interdisciplinary field designed to promote integrated education and cultivate novel domains of knowledge by enabling students to explore subjects beyond traditional departmental divisions. Overseen by University Programs under the Provost's Office, this Bachelor of Arts or Science degree offers a distinctive curriculum where students can select three specialized focus areas, known as concentrations. While these concentrations are individual programs within the university, they typically cannot be combined in conventional degree structures. For instance, a student could pursue environmental journalism by blending coursework in journalism, plant and soil sciences, and environmental toxicology. Though each discipline belongs to separate colleges and degree tracks, only the University Studies major permits students to combine these three concentrations into one cohesive academic path.
