Prospective students admitted to Texas Tech University aiming for a Bachelor of Arts in Dance must additionally audition for the dance program. These auditions occur each fall and spring, involving participants learning and demonstrating movement techniques in contemporary, ballet, and jazz styles (solo performances are not evaluated). The audition process also incorporates an expository writing assessment. Note that university admission doesn't guarantee acceptance into the dance program. The B.A. in Dance requires completion of 120 credit hours, with a minimum of 40 credits at upper-division levels. This program allows students to customize their education by selecting elective courses for a minor outside their major, aligning with the university's liberal arts principles and guidelines.
