Our music programs equip students to master various musical disciplines, from teaching and history to conducting, composition, theory, and performance. To foster a comprehensive and artistically enriching education, Texas State provides diverse performance opportunities such as opera productions, choral groups, orchestras, concert and marching bands, chamber ensembles, as well as acclaimed mariachi and salsa groups, alongside other dynamic cultural music ensembles.
Texas State's music faculty members trained at prestigious global institutions, including the Peabody Institute, Indiana University, New York University, Manhattan School of Music, Michigan State University, Eastman School of Music, Juilliard School, Northwestern University, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas at Austin, among others.

baccalaureate degree in music from a regionally accredited university
official transcripts from each institution where course credit was granted
minimum 2.75 GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus any completed graduate courses)
