This department houses two interconnected fields - Philosophy and Religious Studies - that explore life's deepest inquiries concerning existence, truth, ethics, divinity, and human society. Learners examine influential thinkers' perspectives while developing their own analytical abilities. Our intimate class settings foster close mentorship between professors and students, promoting collaborative research. Our distinguished faculty - including published philosophers, religion experts, and field pioneers - guide students through personalized instruction, supporting original scholarship and career development. Extracurricular programs create meaningful connections among students, particularly through structured discussions.
The Philosophy Department equips majors and minors with a dynamic curriculum emphasizing rigorous intellectual exchange, logical reasoning, textual analysis, and the evaluation of concepts and arguments. We cultivate advanced critical thinking skills and argument assessment capabilities. Students in both disciplines examine diverse viewpoints while exploring how their academic journey relates to future aspirations.
Religious influences permeate every cultural domain - from governance and technology to commerce and justice systems. This cultural-religious interplay opens diverse career paths for Religious Studies graduates in social services, education, creative fields, and beyond, including roles in healthcare ministry, high school teaching, legal assistance, and media. Globalization's progression heightens demand for professionals skilled in multicultural workplace navigation. Understanding global faith traditions proves valuable across industries including corporate sectors, healthcare, criminal justice, and domestic/international governance. Religious competence informs civic engagement and grows increasingly sought-after by employers.
Academic advisors assist with course selection, degree planning, and graduation preparation through personalized consultations. They offer guidance on specialization tracks, teaching credentials, international study options, practical internships, grade point considerations, transfer credit evaluations, and academic recovery strategies when needed.
