The field of Women and Gender Studies operates on the principle that comprehensive education, irrespective of specialization, must encompass both individual and societal perspectives of the modern world. Pursuing a minor in Women and Gender Studies offers essential insights into the dynamics shaping diverse, multicultural societies, particularly concerning gender-related topics such as women's studies, masculinity research, LGBTQ+ matters, feminist thought, and queer theory. This interdisciplinary minor strengthens critical examination within other academic fields and prepares students for professional paths including therapy, corporate environments, human resources, community services, marketing, legal practice, government, and teaching.
To earn an undergraduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies, students must complete WGST 1301 along with a minimum of 9 advanced credit hours from at least two different academic areas, chosen from courses approved for the Women and Gender Studies Minor program.
