The undergraduate Communication Sciences and Disorders program equips students with foundational knowledge and skills to pursue graduate studies in audiology or speech-language pathology (SLP), or to work as speech-language pathology assistants after completing clinical training with an employer post-graduation. Texas state licensure for speech-language pathologists mandates a Master's Degree in communication sciences and disorders.
Communication sciences and disorders students can acquire hands-on experience at the program's dedicated clinic facility.
Prospective students should note that Texas licensing authorities may refuse licensure to applicants with felony or misdemeanor convictions if the offense directly impacts professional responsibilities in speech-language pathology or audiology.
The Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders demands completion of 120-121 credit hours, including a psychology minor, and maintains a minimum 2.75 GPA requirement for all undergraduate CSDO majors.
