The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program aims to establish itself as the leading provider of public sector leadership training for government and non-profit organizations in South Texas. Our mission is accomplished by enabling the region's historically underrepresented Hispanic community to earn a Master of Public Administration degree that meets or surpasses national professional benchmarks. We will draw exceptional students from our local area, across Texas, throughout the country, and internationally by delivering curriculum grounded in public sector needs, leveraging our distinctive geographic setting as both a natural learning environment and educational asset. The MPA program caters specifically to working professionals pursuing their degree through part-time enrollment. Participants complete a foundational sequence of seven courses covering administrative theory, policy development, data interpretation, public financial management, and personnel administration. Furthermore, students specialize by selecting one of four concentration tracks: public management, healthcare administration, public safety, or non-profit management, which determines their remaining coursework.
