The Geology Program aims to deliver comprehensive, process-focused education grounded in core scientific principles, equipping graduates for rewarding careers and continuous learning. This program caters to geology and environmental science majors, as well as students from other disciplines seeking to expand their understanding of Earth systems. Our geoscience faculty offer majors a wide-ranging perspective on geological processes while allowing specialization in chosen geoscience areas, preparing students for advanced studies and careers in government, industry, or academia. Students will develop proficiency in scientific research, written communication, and public speaking, gain mastery of key geological concepts, acquire practical field and lab skills, learn data analysis techniques and relevant computer applications, become qualified for geology-related employment or graduate studies, and develop the ability to assess and debate geology's societal impacts.
The Environmental Geology concentration provides students with versatile training for careers across environmental geoscience fields, including water resources management, water quality assessment, and natural water hydrogeochemistry.
