As a geology student following the geology program, you'll deepen your knowledge of Earth, studying it systematically from its inner core to the outer atmosphere.

You'll engage in practical learning within IUP's scientific community, collaborating closely with faculty on research initiatives and conducting fieldwork at local, regional, and North American locations.

Lab sessions further enhance your hands-on experience. Our facilities feature specialized laboratories including Structural Geology and Tectonics, Marine Sediments, Geochemistry Research, Paleontology Research, Planetary Science, and the IUP Planetarium.

Diverse coursework exposes you to geology's many specialties, such as marine geology/oceanography, volcanic studies, climate science, fossil research, earth physics, and celestial studies.

You'll graduate as a skilled geologist prepared to excel in the workforce, with the complementary science and math foundation needed for entry into top-tier graduate geology programs.
