The program primarily aims to enhance students' language skills while building competencies in literature, culture, practical usage, and translation needed for various careers. To achieve this, the Spanish curriculum offers classes in general Spanish language, professional Spanish, Hispanic linguistics, Spanish and Spanish-American literature and civilizations, and translation. These courses cater to students working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish (with or without teaching certification), a Spanish/English Translation Certificate, those meeting second-language or core curriculum requirements, and those taking electives to complement other majors or minors. Through this program, you'll showcase advanced Spanish proficiency via exams, presentations, and research projects. You'll also develop skills to analyze and interpret the cultural, linguistic, and literary dimensions of Spanish-speaking nations through coursework and academic work. This degree prepares you for teaching Spanish or pursuing advanced studies.
