The materials engineering program utilizes materials science principles to develop enhanced construction materials for infrastructure projects. These conventional materials encompass asphalt concrete, Portland cement concrete, steel-reinforced concrete, various aggregate types (both bound and unbound), and chemically modified soils.
Texas A&M's civil engineering program offers comprehensive materials engineering education, spanning subjects like materials science, construction materials, pavement design and management, micromechanics, and microstructure analysis and simulation.
Undergraduate students gain foundational scientific knowledge and practical skills for material selection, specification, and quality assurance in civil engineering. Graduate students acquire advanced expertise to progress in materials engineering practice and innovation.
